Celebrating Jacey's birthday by carrying her legacy forward, every day.

July 25 is a special day for everyone at Believe in the Gold. It's Jacey’s birthday.

Although Jacey is no longer with us, her impact is felt every single day. Believe in the Gold was created in her honour after she passed away from Ewing Sarcoma in 2012, and everything we do is inspired by the compassion, strength, and determination she showed throughout her cancer journey.

Jacey believed that no family should have to face childhood cancer alone. She wanted more people to understand what childhood cancer is, more support for families, and better treatments for the children who would come after her. Those ideas became the foundation of Believe in the Gold, and they continue to guide us today.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, life changes overnight. Between hospital stays, time away from work, travel, medications, parking, and other unexpected costs, the financial stress can become overwhelming.

One of the most important things we do is help families with expenses that aren't covered by Alberta Health Care or extended benefit plans. Every family's situation is different, but our goal is always the same: to ease some of the burden so parents can focus on their child.

We've had the privilege of helping families across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Western Canada, and we're grateful to be able to support them during one of the hardest times in their lives.

Many people are surprised to learn how little awareness there is around childhood cancer.

That's why education is such an important part of our mission. Whether we're sharing stories online, speaking at schools, attending community events, or asking people to wear gold during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, every conversation helps.

The more people understand childhood cancer, the more support there is for children and families who are living it every day.

Research gives hope. Every new treatment, every improvement in care, and every increase in survival rates starts with research. We're proud to support childhood cancer research because we know that today's discoveries can make a difference for tomorrow's families.

It's something Jacey cared deeply about, and we're honoured to continue supporting that work.

None of this would be possible without our incredible community.

To everyone who has donated, volunteered, attended an event, sponsored a fundraiser, or shared our mission with others, thank you. Your support allows us to continue helping families, raising awareness, and investing in research.

As we celebrate Jacey's birthday, we're reminded that her legacy isn't only found in the story she left behind. It's found in every family who receives support, every child who benefits from research, and every person who chooses to stand with us in the fight against childhood cancer.

Happy Birthday, Jacey.

Thank you for inspiring us to keep believing.
