Bingo, Bags, and Booze: A Winning Night for Childhood Cancer

What do designer handbags, top-shelf liquor, and a whole lot of laughter have in common? They were all part of a fantastic evening at "Bingo, Bags, and Booze," a recent fundraising event that hit all the right numbers while supporting a cause incredibly close to our hearts: childhood cancer.

The energy in the room was buzzing as guests gathered, eager to try their luck at bingo with a twist. Forget your grandma's bingo hall – here, the stakes were high and the prizes were seriously coveted. Imagine the thrill of calling out "Bingo!" and walking away with a gorgeous designer handbag or a coveted bottle of gin. Cheers erupted with every win, and the friendly competition was all in good fun, knowing every dauber mark brought us closer to our fundraising goal.

Our host for the evening. Ron Bobyn, kept the atmosphere light and lively with an endless stream of hilarious one-liners that had everyone in stitches. His quick wit and engaging personality truly elevated the event, making it feel less like a fundraiser and more like a fabulous night out with friends.

Beyond the bingo cards, attendees also had the chance to snag some incredible raffle prizes. The generosity of our community shone through with an array of fantastic items up for grabs, including highly sought-after Calgary Stampede Rodeo tickets, a delightful wine basket, a unique handmade bag, and even a practical dash cam. The excitement surrounding the raffle added another layer of anticipation to an already thrilling night.

"Bingo, Bags, and Booze" was more than just a game night; it was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a common purpose. Every ticket purchased, every bingo card played, and every raffle entry contributed directly to vital initiatives in the fight against childhood cancer. The funds raised will be used to support research, provide essential resources for families, and offer hope to brave young warriors and their loved ones.

Our president and founder, Shonalie Biafore, was on hand to personally welcome guests and spend time with everyone. She is deeply grateful for the incredible support we’ve received over the past 12 years. During the evening, Shonalie shared a brief history of the charity and spoke about how her daughter’s wish was to create an organization that would support families, raise funds for critical research, and bring greater awareness to childhood cancer, represented by the gold ribbon.
